Manufacturing Capabilities
Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machining
Barber-Nichols' specialty is the machining of high speed rotating components for the most demanding aeronautic, energy, national defense, and space flight applications, particularly those with complex geometries and exotic alloys. BNI's manufacturing group is superbly staffed and equipped to handle the most challenging turning and 5-Axis machining requirements.
Electrochemical Machining (ECM)
ECM is one of many unique capabilities available at Barber-Nichols Inc. (BNI). This machining process is unaffected by material hardness and can produce virtually any shaped cavity including through-holes and trepanned configurations. ECM is the fastest nontraditional metal-removal machining process.
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Inspection
CMM Inspection allows BNI to compare hardware with solid models. Tolerances can be verified to an extremely high degree of accuracy. BNI can perform CMM Inspections on items up to 120 cm (47 in) long by 150 cm (59 in) wide by 100 cm (39 in) high with a volumetric length measuring error (MPE E ) of only 0.017 microns.
In addition to milling, turning, and electrochemical machining expertise, BNI has extensive experience with secondary processes such as heat treatments, surface treatments, and welding/brazing.
