Centrifugal Blowers, Compressors, and Turbocompressors

Barber-Nichols, Inc. ( BNI ) has been designing, engineering, manufacturing, and testing high performance blowers and compressors since 1966. Specific products include Climatics Test Chamber Blowers, LNG Vapor Return Blowers, Fuel Cell Blowers, and Turbocompressors.

Climatic blowerClimatics Test Chamber Blowers

BNI is the world's leading supplier of high speed blowers used in climatic test chambers. Climatic test chambers are often used to test satellites which endure temperatures that alternate between 150°C and -185°C (300° F and -300 ° F). Climatics Test Chamber Blowers circulate nitrogen gas between these temperature extremes for months at a time so satellite electronics can be tested prior to launch.

Cold Gas CompressorCold Gas Compressors

Barber-Nichols designs and manufactures high-speed cold gas compressors for both large and small flow rates. These compressors can produce high head rise in a single stage and can operate at temperatures down to 2.6K (-455° F).

BOG CompressorLNG Vapor Return Blowers

BNI designs and manufactures Vapor Return Blowers for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) receiving terminals. The compressors are designed to transfer boil-off gas from large storage tanks onshore to ships offshore while they are being offloaded. Boil-off gas prevents both the collapse of the ship's tanks and the introduction of oxygen into the system.

Fuel Cell BlowerFuel Cell Blowers

Barber-Nichols designs and manufactures blowers for Protron Exchange Membrane and Solid Oxide Fuel Cell applications. Specific products include blowers that recirculate hydrogen gas and blowers that introduce air into the system.

TurbocompressorTurbocompressors

BNI designs and manufactures Custom Turbocompressors for the process and power industries. Related products include turbine-compressor-generator assemblies for gas turbine engines. Barber-Nichols has experience with the development of clean-sheet designs and with the modification of commercial off-the-shelf turbochargers.
