Barber-Nichols Inc. (BNI) has been managing design/build-to-order turbomachinery projects since 1966 and our project managers average more than 20 years of experience. All contracts have a single primary customer point of contact - the BNI project manager who takes responsibility for all aspects of your satisfaction from technical compliance through delivery to commisioning support.
Project management complexity and customer interaction vary widely. On smaller minor-modifcation product orders, all details are handled by our ISO-9001 based system, while customer communication may be limited to a single confirmation of the product delivery. On complex aerospace contracts a full AS9100 class program will be managed with deliverables ranging from hosted kickoff, preliminary design and critical design reviews plus extensive data deliverables. BNI also offers WBS task tracking, FAR based cost reporting and risk planning.
Projects managers are supported by BNI's management team with weekly oversight to ensure delivery of commitments and timely application of full BNI technical experience to any problems that may arise. Project managers are further supported by project hardware tracking tools to ensure up to date visibility of all components leading upto the product assembly and test phase.
From your project's concept to completion, we encourage open lines of communication and our project managers team and salespeople strive to develop strong relationships with our customers. Strong relationships help BNI better understand our customer's systems, requirements and collaboration style. The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is BNI's oldest customer and we have been working on projects together for more than 40 years.
Finally, BNI is a responsive and flexible partner. Our flexibility allows us to balance a project's programmatic requirements with cost objectives and adapt to challenging and changing requirements.
