Barber-Nichols Awarded Air Turbine Assembly Manufacturing Contract For U.S. Navy’s Virginia Class Submarine Fleet

Barber-Nichols Inc. (BNI) was awarded a five-year contract valued in excess of $10 Million for the manufacture of Air Turbine Assemblies which are used on the Navy’s Virginia Class submarine fleet. BNI’s employees and management are proud that the U.S. Navy and its prime contractors are confident that we can successfully deliver this mission-critical hardware. The award of this multi-year contract allows Barber-Nichols to maximize production efficiencies in support of the U.S. Navy’s long-term strategic need for a strong submarine force.

The Air Turbine Assembly combines full material traceability, precise machining specifications, exacting fabrication requirements, and rigorous source inspection with compliant quality assurance documentation which must be maintained for each component and process. BNI has more than 40 years of experience engineering and manufacturing specialty turbomachinery for use by the U.S. Navy and we look forward to maintaining this tradition well into the future.
